Description

What do you get when you mix Jell-O, Miracle Whip, Oreos, and Velveeta? You get a big slice of the Kraft Foods pie called Kraft North America. A business segment of the world's #2 food company, it "houses" the company's North American consumer sectors, including beverages, cheese and dairy, convenient meals, grocery, snacks and cereals, and foodservice operations. Other segment's brands include Kraft, Maxwell House, Oscar Mayer, Kool-Aid, South Beach Living, and Tombstone. Former parent Philip Morris (now Altria Group) acquired Nabisco in 2000 and folded its operations (including Ritz crackers and Chips Ahoy!) into its North American unit.

All together, Alltel is a leading US wireless telecommunications network operator. The company provides wireless voice and data services to more than 14 million customers over a network that spans some 35 states. Data services include messaging, wireless Internet access, and such entertainment features as streaming music (made possible through a partnership with SIRIUS XM). Alltel also sells wireless handsets, provides network services to other carriers on a wholesale basis, and offers a range of business support services and third-party mobile software aimed at corporate customers. The company was acquired in 2009 by Verizon Communications.
