Collegiate Objective

When making the decision about what I wanted to do after gratuation from high school I considered two things. What I wanted for myself on a personal level and what I wanted for myself on a career based level. On a personal level I want to be able to stick to goals I have made for myself and also be able to expand and bulid on them in a way that suits me. I hope to live comfortably and have good, strong friendships with peopl who positively influence me, and I also hope to be a positive influence in the lives of my friends and family. It is important to me that I achieve these goals because it is what I want for my life.

A lot of thought about what I want my future career to be went into my decision on what college to go to. It is my desire to someday become a novelist. Here at Western Michigan University there is a very strong fiction program. I would like to graduate from Western with a 3.5 GPA or higher. I plan on excelling in my english courses and using the knowledge I gain to work toward my career goal of becoming a novelist. To further work toward my career goal I plan on working for a magazine or newspaper writing a colum, editing, or simply observing to gain valuable information. After I complete Grad school I plan on jumping headfirst into my writing and hopefully will have enough talent and knowledge to be published. It is my hope that someday I will be able to buy a house on the beach and write full time.
