GameStop holds the top score in the video game retailing industry. The company is the largest retailer of new and used games, hardware, entertainment software, and accessories through more than 5,550 stores located in 16 countries, including primarily the US, as well as Canada, Australia, and Europe. A majority of sales come from new and used video games; stores branded as GameStop and EB Games carry an average of 1,000 new titles and 3,500 used ones. The company also operates e-commerce Web sites (GameStop.com, ebgames.com) and publishes Game Informer, a video game magazine that reaches more than 2.9 million subscribers. The company's 2005 purchase of rival Electronics Boutique doubled GameStop's size.

National Basketball Association

This league has the inside moves to score big with hoops fans. The National Basketball Association is one of the four major professional sports leagues in the US, with 30 teams representing 28 US markets and one in Canada. The NBA oversees the rules of the game and officiating, markets its teams and players, and regulates franchise ownership. It also licenses broadcasting rights and collects revenue from corporate sponsorships. In addition, the NBA operates the WNBA, a 14-team women's league; the NBA Development League for up-and-coming players; and NBA TV, a cable TV channel offering news, original programming, and live game broadcasts. The NBA was founded as the Basketball Association of America in 1946.
