Collegiate Objective

As I bring to a close my first year of college, I find myself still on a path towards becoming more intellectually capable than I was when I first began. I wanted to attend college before entering the world of business for a few key reasons. The skills that I will undoubtedly glean from my time spent at Western Michigan University will better ready me for the increasingly competitive world of business. Already I have learned more this year than I have in the past two years of high school. I hope to continue to gain a better sense of the world around me and to increase my knowledge of business. I have already attended seminars and lectures that have opened my eyes on to what it takes to be truly successful in today economy.

On a personal level I hope that college will teach me not only the skills that I will surely need when I start a career in business, but to further network amongst influential individuals. Growing up in an affluent area I was exposed to the power of networking at an early age. I have been hired by a few employers without even sending in a formal application purely because I have known the owners family for years or are friends with their children. I aspire to network vastly among my fellow students so that if one day I need a favor, I know I’ll be able to ask a number of people who will be willing to come to my aid. I am leaving my poor grades of high school behind and am trying to become the student that I know I can become. The road is long a troublesome but I know that if I truly apply myself to my goals that they will become realities.
