Ph.D. expected December 2010
Department of Economics, Western Michigan University

Welcome! Currently I am completing a Ph.D. in Applied Economics at Western Michigan University, and expect to graduate on December 2010. My dissertation is entitled “Economic and Risk Factors Associated with Sexual and Reproductive Health”, working under the direction of Dr. Christine Moser. The Ph.D. in Economics program at Western Michigan University has helped me develop strong data-handling, empirical, and modeling skills. I have specialized in three areas: Development, International Economics, and Applied Econometrics.

My professional experience has given me important insights about the application of economics in the real world. I have work as an economic advisor in the Legislature of Puerto Rico, an office similar to the General Accountability Office (GAO). Some of the responsibilities I performed were to conduct fiscal policy research, cost effectiveness analyses and budget forecasting analyses. I also designed the financial components of legislative bills and analyzed their impact.

Additionally, I performed research and economic evaluations as a special advisor at the Puerto Rico Department of Education, where I led investigations on budget and personnel administration such as an economic impact evaluation of several union proposals for collective bargaining.

" I have specialized in three areas: Development, International Economics, and Applied Econometrics. "

Recently, I have started working on different projects in The Evaluation Center at Western Michigan University including drafting a research proposal for the National Science Foundation (NCF) and participating on ongoing evaluation efforts. The Evaluation Center is one of the leading evaluation and applied research institutes in the US, and the first of its kind.

Please consult my research samples and my curriculum vitae for more detailed information about my work. This web page also has my teaching materials. Thanks for your visit. I look forward to hearing from you.
