I am entering the Haworth College of Business with the intentions on majoring in food marketing and minoring in advertising. During my research throughout the library section of goWMU I found alot of interesting stuff that will help me in the future with whatever I happen to be doing. One thing I found very useful was the library research support, this basically tells you what each book in the library entails behind the cover, for instance it mentions how scholarly the book is and also who the authors are, the publication, appearance and content involved in the book."A scholarly article or book generally is based on original research or experimentation. It is written by a researcher or expert in the field who is often affiliated with a college or university. Most scholarly writing includes footnotes and/or a bibliography and may include graphs or charts as illustrations." (gowmu, library research support; scholarly article) This sentence describes to us what a scholarly article has in it, which is also helpful depending on what you are looking for.
Another thing that I found that would help me out in the future is the ability to rent or check out books from the library whenever I want, and this does not just include books, you can also check out cd's, and all of that other good stuff. The cool thing about this is that you do not have to be an undergraduate to rent these things out, you still have the privelege as an alumni of this university. This is very cool, and would be helpful if I was working on a project and I felt like I needed more information on a topic, I could simply go to the library and check out a book, etc. "All library fines and fees, including interlibrary loan fees, may be paid on the 2nd Floor of Waldo Library at the Copy Center" (gowmu, borrowing and renewing items; overdue fines) This is one of the main things that you pay attention to, because no one wants to pay late fees!
