Science as knowing, taught by scientists
In addition to traditional lecture and discussion based courses, informed and elaborated by ongoing discovery of new knowledge, I mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory. Students from other institutions also pursue training through programs administered by joint faculty across several departments. Particularly qualified High School students also work in the laboratory at times.

I occasionally provide lab tours to students from other departments and travel to local schools to talk about research in general and Neurobiology (and leeches) in particular.
