Collegiate Objective

On a personal level, I am attending college to try and learn about whom I really am and what I am most interested in for a career. I have always been someone that has made friends really easily, but since a young age I have been surrounded by the same people and I really want to know if it will still be as easy to make friends once I reached college. I know that I have found friends already that will be with me for the rest of my life. Another main personal reason I attended college was to discover a new place and explore my new surroundings in a state that I’ve never lived in before. Growing up I traveled often, but always ended up going back to my home in Illinois. Since I am now attending a college out of state, I have been able to see what it is like to live somewhere else than Illinois. I also am looking forward to studying abroad at the University of Wollongong in Australia, which will provide me with the opportunity to explore yet another region of the world.

On a professional level, I want to be able to leave college with the knowledge and abilities to put me at a competitive level for a high paying job, while still letting me enjoy my job. I want to go into Pharmaceutical Sales, whether that means being a representative or a medical salesman. Sales come naturally to me because of my ability to communicate well and not be afraid to talk to anyone. I have began to network myself by going to career fairs and giving my résumé to companies so they will recognize me in the coming years when I’m looking for a job in the field that my degree is in. I have set up internships for this summer and the next, all that have to do with my field of interest. Academically, I plan to have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 by my junior year, and a 3.5 or better after graduation. I planned this out because I know I do my best in the business classes and once I get through the weed out classes, I should be well on my way to a successful GPA. Once I am successful with all of these objectives, I know there will be plenty of companies courting me once I graduate, which will help push me in the direction of a successful career.
