Prime Numbers in the Complex Integers

Abstract.

The concept of a prime number can be extended to the ring of complex numbers with integer coefficients. We will examine methods for locating prime complex integers. They have an interesting relationship to the (real) integer primes. We will examine their distribution in the complex plane. We will explore in what sense a complex integer can be factored uniquely.
