Disposition

I believe that teaching is one of the most respectable, under valued, and hardest professions there are. Some people say that those who can't do, teach. I believe that this statement is COMPLETELY wrong. Teaching takes patience, love, passion, empathy, collaboration, effort, and so much more. I have seen too many teachers that have lost their love for teaching and are just becoming traditional text book teachers. I want to become a teacher to revive these classrooms. I want students to see that learning is the best thing you can do for yourself. I want to help students in their quest for knowledge. I want to mix things up. I want to be a differentiated teacher. I want to show students that there is so much more than just reading out a text book. Students need the support, and sometimes modifications, that can only help them learn more.
When I was in high school I signed up to help students with special needs. These students taught me that I have so much that I just take for granted. Ever since I started working with these students I decided that I want to continue this and do this work for as long as I can. I am attending Western to help all the students I can in the future. I want to show them that they can achieve all of their goals and dreams. I especially want to help them make those goals and dreams come true. I have taken so many valuable lessons away from my classes at Western. I have a goal and I am going to work as hard as I need to to achieve it! I understand that to be a good educator I need to take time to understand every aspect of the profession. I need to work to have good communication with the parents, students, and other professionals that I am working with. Responsibility and understanding are the keys to teaching.
