The state's nickname is the "Constitution State." Connecticut's capital is the city of Hartford. The state's motto is: "He Who Transplanted Still Sustains." The population of Connecticut, as of the 2000 census, was 3,405,565 people. There are 8 counties in the state, 169 towns, and 21 cities.
