| About Me |
The oldest of three, I was raised in Portage, MI. I was a student in the Portage Public Schools where I feel I received a quality eduation. During middle and high school I was involved in orchestra, Odyssey of the Mind, DECA, National Honor Society, cross country and track.
My Family
My family is very important to me. I am the oldest of three children; I have a sister who is eighteen and a freshman at WMU and fourteen year old brother who is in eighth grade at Portage North Middle School. My mom runs a daycare business from our house and my father sells insurance in Kalamazoo. Favorite memories include vacations and working in our family concession wagon and ice cream shop.
My Friends
Throughout my life I have met many wonderful people and held them close to my heart. Still close to many of my friends from high school I also have met some great compadres at college. The memories we are making here are timeless.
My Hobbies
Throughout high school I was involved in many activities. I played the violin in my high school orchestra and traveled to Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic to tour and give concerts an various venues.
I was actively involved in my school's DECA chapter, a marketing club. My junior year I competed in a team problem solving competition and went to the state conference. My senior year a team and I designed and wrote a 30 page paper about the Free Enterprise System. We competed against other teams in the Regional, State and eventually the National Conference in Orlando, FL.
One of my favorite activites is running. In high school I ran on the cross country and track teams. When I entered WMU I ran on the cross country team. In October of 2000 I ran in the Chicago Marathon. I also coach cross country at South Middle School in Kalamazoo.
I became involved with LifeTeen
in August of 2000. LifeTeen is a national Catholic youth ministry with the
motto of leading high school students closer to Christ. I am a Core Team Member,
which means I, with a group of other young adults, plan and run each week's
activities.
My Travels
Throughout the past few years I have traveled to many
different cities and countries throughout the world. In high school I went
to Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic with other students to tour and
give concerts.
During my sophomore year of college I traveled to Alamosa, Colorado with 11
other WMU students to volunteer at a homeless shelter during our Spring Break.
We were able to work in the shelter and talk with the people who lived there.
It was an eye opening experience, one that I will never forget.
In July 2001 I traveled with people from my church to an orphange in Nueve
Laredo, Mexico. We stayed there for a week and worked with the girls and the
nuns who ran the casa.
In December 2001 I went to Cork, Ireland for 10days to visit a friend who
is studying abroad for the school year.
