"Increasing Enrollment in Physics & Physical Science Classes"

PhysTEC Meeting - Thursday 2 February 2006, 4:30-7:00pm, Rood 2246

All Future Physics Teachers Invited -- As will all physics teacher meetings, significant refreshments will be made available.

Email your plans to attend or any questions you may have to drew.isola@wmich.edu

If you've never been to or heard of a PhysTEC meeting here's a short summary.
The PhysTEC Project connects undergraduate physics SED majors and minors and
area physics teachers with each other and the Physics Dept here at WMU through
a variety of means. PhysTEC meetings are scheduled a few times per semester
to give students an opportunity to meet area physics teachers and for physics
teachers to share useful classroom ideas with each other. Many area teachers
have reported back to us that the connections and information they received
through PhysTEC have helped them with their teaching of physics and physical science.

Update on High School Math & Science Requirements

Sorry for the additional email but I have some recently updated info that many of you will be interested in concerning the newly proposed HS graduation requirements and the specific math and science expectations that HS math and science courses will have to meet. These three websites have some of the most current info I know of:

Since the impact of these changes is likely to affect the enrollment in our physics and physical science classes I expect that these websites will provide a good basis for our topic of discussion on Thursday.
