Mid-Term Grades (Post Exam 3 Grades) (6-24-2011 Fr)

Note from Dr. Phil:

Here we have the breakdown of your Mid-Term Grade by category. The grades for Exams 1-3 are your curved exams, corrections have been entered. The Final Exam is twice the average of Exams 1-3. Quiz scores are added up, the three lowest are automatically removed and the remaining total scaled as if all quizzes were taken. Everyone is given an estimated "B" on their Topic 1 paper and an estimated "AB" on their Topic 2 Worksheets -- most people do better than that when the papers are graded. All corrections to Exam 2 and Exam 3 that I have on hand have been entered. Please note that there are some late quizzes which will be graded later, which may result in an unusually low quiz grade.

PLEASE NOTE:

(1) Mid-Term Grades are for you benefit -- they are not part of your transcript.

(2) If you are "flunking" -- with a CD, D or F grade -- that does not mean you are actually failing the course. It just means you need to pull up your grades. There is still may be time left to get a C or better in PHYS-1070. You can also always stop by Dr. Phil and we can play with the spreadsheet to show you how to improve your grade.

And in case you were wondering, I am an optimist, so I call the grade between an "A" and a "B" as an "AB". The university calls it a "BA". They are the same thing. I just like to call it "better than a B" rather than "worse than an A".

If you don't remember your PID, or aren't sure, send me an email, preferably from your wmich.edu e-mail account, and I can send you your Mid-Term Grade breakdown information. Or stop by during any of my Office Hours.
