ChenWelcome to Dr. Kuanchin Chen's personal web page. Dr. Chen is Professor of Computer Information Systems at the Department of Business Information Systems, Western Michigan University. He received his Master of Science (MS) degree in Information Systems from the University of Colorado and his Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) in Information Systems from Cleveland State University. Dr. Chen is an active researcher. He currently serves on the editorial or advisory boards of Information Resources Management journal, International Journal of Information Systems and Change Management, Journal of Website Promotion, Communications of the ICISA, IGI Global (formerly Idea Group), and Electronic Commerce Research and Applications. He is a former Editor-in-Chief of the Communications of ICISA journal, and the president of the association.

Dr. Chen received the WMU Emerging Scholar Award from President Dunn in 2008 (see photo below).  The following is quoted from the objective of the award:

"The award recognizes the scholarly or creative achievements of outstanding colleagues whose accomplishments are evidence of great potential for scholarship or creative work."

In 2011, Dr. Chen was the recipient of the department's Teaching Award, which recognizes his years of quality instructions at WMU. He was awarded U.S. Fulbright Scholar in 2012 to further intellectual collaborations and cultural understanding between the U.S. and other countries. See the college newsletter for more. Dr. Chen has also received numerous other awards including the 2014 outstanding research paper of the year - the Internet Research journal, 2015 best research award - WMU's Haworth College of Business, 2013, 2015 and 2017 best research award - Department of Business Information Systems, and others. He is named John W. Snyder Faculty Fellow in 2017, the first of such award in the department's history.

He has published numerous articles in journals and other academic publication outlets, including Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Information Systems Journal, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics,Journal of Global Information Management, DATA BASE, Journal of Database Management, Internet Research, Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS),Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, and many others. He has also given more than forty research lectures and talks at several organizations, such as NASA Lewis Research Center, University of South Dakota, Western Michigan University, WMU IT Forum, Center of Excellence - Dakota State University, National Central University, National Cheng Kung University,, National Chung Cheng University and several major academic conferences.
