to Dr. Kuanchin Chen's home page. Dr. Chen is an Associate
Professor of
Computer Information Systems
at
Department of Business
Information Systems, Western
Michigan University. He received his Master of Science
(MS) degree in Information Systems from the University of Colorado
and his Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) in Information
Systems from Cleveland State University. Dr. Chen is an active
researcher. He currently serves on the editorial or advisory
boards of Information Resources Management journal,
International Journal of Information Systems and Change Management,
Journal of Website Promotion, Communications of the
ICISA, IGI Global (formerly Idea Group), eWeek,
and CMP. He was Editor-in-Chief of the Communications
of ICISA journal, and now the president of the association.
Dr. Chen recently received the
Emerging Scholar Award from President Dunn (see photo below). The following
is quoted from the objective of the award:

"The award recognizes the scholarly or creative achievements
of outstanding colleagues whose accomplishments are evidence
of great potential for scholarship or creative work."

In 2011, Dr. Chen is the recepient of the department's Teaching Award, which recognizes his years of quality instructions at WMU. He is a U.S. Fulbright Scholar in 2012 to further intellectual collaborations and cultural understanding between the U.S. and other countries. See the college newsletter for more.
Dr. Chen's research interests include electronic business,
privacy & security, online behavioral issues (e.g., interactivity,
dependency, and tracking/protection), Internet frauds, usability,
data mining, and human computer interactions.
Dr.
Chen's recent book
Online Consumer Protection: Theories of Human Relativism

He has published numerous articles in journals and other academic publication outlets, such as Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics,Journal of Database Management, Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS), Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, and many others. He has also given research lectures and talks at several organizations, such as NASA Lewis Research Center, University of South Dakota, Western Michigan University, Center of Excellence - Dakota State University, National Central University, National Cheng Kung University,, National Chung Cheng University and several major academic conferences.
