Dr. Lina Sawalha is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western Michigan University.   She also holds an adjunct assistant professor position in the Department of Computer Science.  She is the founder and director of the Computer Architecture and Systems Research Laboratory at WMU. Her research interests include computer architecture, parallel architectures, microarchitecture, heterogeneous systems, hardware/software co-design, high performance computing, energy efficient computing, and hardware/software architectures for 3D displays.  Dr. Sawalha received her MS and PhD degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 2009 and 2012 respectively, and her BS degree in Computer Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2006. Her PhD dissertation was focused on the daunting challenges introduced by the move to heterogeneous multicore processors (HMPs).  In particular, her work provides user/programmer transparent solutions to the problems of HMP scheduling and design. 




Dr. Sawalha received the 2016 CEAS Outstanding New Educator Award at WMU.
