Constitution
and By-Laws of Delton High School Alumni Association
PREAMBLE
Whereas, the number of the alumni of ten grade Delton
High School is sufficiently large to justify the permanent organization
of an alumni association and to provide an immediate organization
for the new High School Alumni, be it therefore,
Resolved, that, for the purpose of continuing and
extending the pleasant friendships of high school days, for the promotion
of the interests of the high school, and for the purpose of a record
of addresses and accomplishments of the members, we the alumni of
Delton High School, adopt the following constitution and by-laws.
ARTICLE 1. Name
This organization shall be known as the Delton High
School Alumni Association.
ARTICLE 2. Members
Section 1. All who have graduated from said ten grade
school from 1905 to 1934 inclusive, are constituted members of this
association and all who may graduate from the Delton Rural Agricultural
School thereafter shall become members of this association.
Section 2. The faculty of the Delton Hight School
1905 to the present and those who in the future may become members
of the faculty shall be ex-officio members of this association.
ARTICLE 3. Officers and their Duties
Section 1. The officers of this organization shall
be a President, vice-president, and a secretary-treasurer, which
with a committee of two, appointed by the president will constitute
an executive committee.
Section 2. It shall be the duty of the president
to preside at all meetings of the association, enforce a strict observance
of the constitution, by-laws and rules of order; appoint all committees
not otherwise provided for, and to perform such other duties as may
pertain to that office.
Section 3. The vice-president shall perform the duties
of the president in the absence of that officer, or when called to
the chair.
Section 4. The secretary-treasurer shall keep the
minutes of the association, also a record of the names and address
of each member, issue all notices required, take charge of all documents
and papers, have charge of all moneys belonging to the association,
pay orders only when signed by the president, keep an account of
all moneys received and expended, and report same at each regular
meeting.
The secretary-treasurer shall be a resident of the
vicinity of Delton.
Section 5. The executive committee of five members
as above stated shall prepare the program for each annual reunion
and make all necessary arrangements for such reunion and banquet.
A majority of executive committee shall constitute a quorum.
ARTICLE 4. Election of Officers
The president, vice-president, secretary-treasurer,
shall be elected by acclamation. The vice-president each year shall
be president the following year. They shall be nominated by a nominating
committee of three, appointed the previous year by the executive
committee. Nominations may also be made from the floor.
ARTICLE 5.
In case of vacancy, any office may be supplied by
the executive committee.
ARTICLE 6.
No amendment to the constitution, by-laws, or rules
of order, shall be made without a 2/3 vote of the members present
at a regular meeting and two weeks notice of such amendment shall
be given to the secretary previous to said meeting.
BY-LAWS
ARTICLE 1. Meetings
Section 1. The regular annual meeting of this association
shall be held on the first Saturday following graduation.
Section 2. The business meeting shall be held in
connection with the annual meeting.
Section 3. Twelve members shall constitute a quorum
for the transaction of business.
ARTICLE 2.
All resolutions and final reports of committees on
business of importance must be presented in writing and signed by
members offering the same, and after being acted upon must be filed
with the secretary.
ARTICLE 3. Fees
Section 1. The levying of fees shall be decided by
the executive committee, as they see fit to cover the necessary expense
of the association.
ARTICLE 4.
These by-laws may be amended in the same manner as
required for an amendment to the constitution.
ARTICLE 5.
Every officer on retiring from office shall deliver
all books, papers, and documents pertaining thereto, to his successor
in office.
