My shop is contained in the 20'x20' left-side portion of my garage. Initially half of that space was a chicken coop and filled completely to the ceiling with old leftovers from remodeling projects. I had to clean that 10' section out, including the 2' of petrified chicken droppings, then remove a wall between that section and the next 10' and then add a wall between that 10' section and the garage proper to create the shop. My dad came up and helped with the wiring and putting up the insulation and wallboard. I hired someone to put in a new cement floor. At the time it seemed like 20x20' would be huge, but now, 16 years later, I have outgrown my shop and am looking into expanding portions of it into the garage proper (which I have never parked a car in). For summer 2009, I will be replacing all of the windows and then adding vinyl siding. In Fall 2003, I had a new roof put on and a 12x16' small barn built to hold all my lumber. Visit the shop... |
