Dr Joyce Kubiski
I am an art historian in the Frostic School of Art at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where I live with my husband, 4 children, and 3 dogs.
My research focuses on manuscript illumination in France and Italy during the 14th and 15th centuries, Renaissance portraiture, representations of the body, and issues of costume and identity.
At WMU, I teach a wide variety of coursework including Greek and Roman, the Classical Tradition, Medieval, Italian Renaissance, and seminars in Book Arts, Medieval Manuscript Painting, and the Body in Art. I have taught in Florence, Italy and I am currently developing a study abroad program with faculty member Bill Charland on the History and Process of Mosaics in Rome, Italy set to launch in summer 2011.
