Policies, Procedures, Attendance, Etc. . . .

  • I would expect that you will attend all of the class sessions. Because we cover programs in class, it is difficult to catch a student up if he/she misses class.
  • The purpose of this class is to acclimate you to using the computer. You will be graded on assignments that you will complete. There will be NO paper used in this class. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS!!!!!

  • Topics to Be Covered in Class:

    Class Philosophy:

The purpose of this class is to make you comfortable on the computer. Many of you have used the various programs that will be taught in this class. Some of you are better on them then others. If you know something that your fellow students do not, please do not hesitate to share. Please do not get overly alarmed about your grade in this class. The purpose is to learn and enjoy. Computers are only useful tools when you enjoy the time that you spend on the computer. In addition, please to not hesitate to ask questions.

    FINALLY!!

Please understand that you cannot possibly sit and stare at a computer for 2 hours and remain sane. We will have frequent breaks. Also realize, when we are working in class (I am not instructing), please feel free to get up, stretch, take a break.

We all carry cell phones and with significant others, cell phones are important. Please put your cellphone on vibrate. Standing rule in my class, If your cell phone rings during instruction time, I answer it. If your cell phone goes off and you need to take a call, please walk into the hall and take it. Of if you need to make a call, do the same thing.

Remember, while this is an important class, (you are Graduate Students!!) the best way to learn anything on the computer is to enjoy what you are doing. Relax, get to know the people in the class (we will have name tents because I am terrible at names) and lets learn. If you have questions, by all means bring them up!!
