Adding a Trendline to a Scatter Plot

1. Go to the worksheet with the scatter diagram and click on the chart to select it
2. Select Chart from the menu bar
3. Select: Add Trendline
4. Go to the Type tab and highlight the Linear graph box
5. Go to the Options tab and check:
   Display equation on chart
   Display R-squared value on chart
6. Click OK
   
   NOTE: The equation and R-squared value form a unit which can be moved or enlarged

Residuals versus Predicted Values Plot

1. Go to the Residual Output Table and highlight the Predicted and Residuals columns
2. Click the Chart icon on the menu bar
3. In the window, Choose XY (scatter) and then click Next
4. Check to make sure that "Series in Columns" is selected and then click Next
5. Go to the Legend tab and deselect Show Legend
6. Go to the Gridlines tab and deselect Major Gridlines under Value (Y) Axis
7. Go to the Titles tab and enter the following then click Next
   Title: Residuals versus Fitted Values
   Y: Residuals
   X: Predicted Values
8. Select: As object in: and then click Finish
   
   NOTE: The completed plot will appear on the same worksheet with the Residual Output table. It can then be moved or resized.

Plot Modifications

1. Right click on the inside plot area and select Format Plot Area from the menu
   Border: select automatic and then choose the first solid weight line
   Area: select the white background block and then click OK
2. Right click on the outer chart area and select Format Chart Area from the menu
   Border: select automatic and then click OK
3. To enlarge the titles and the scale numbers on each axis:
   Place the mouse pointer on the title or number to be enlarged
   Right click and select Format from the menu
   Go to the Font tab and change font size to 10 and then click OK
   
   NOTE: if you plan to Copy and Paste the plot to another worksheet so it can be resized, then you must copy the object before enlarging titles or axis numbers.
