Executive Summary
Using the Sap software for sales order possessing has
proven to be a very convenient method for businesses in this day and age. In
SAP, every client is designated a specific number and every function is easily
found through the navigation tools.
Sales order processing is a widely required procedure by most businesses
today. By making this task extremely simple ERP software has saved many
companies time and money.
In BUS 2700, we have taken time to learn the importance
of such tools in the business world. In this particular assignment we navigated
through SAP and processed a fictitious sales order for a business. While
processing this information we saw how each individual step has a role in
creating the final product and why each is of equal importance. In a sales
inquiry there are many columns and values on the spread sheet all representing
different pieces to the puzzle that ultimately create the final product. By
making all of this information available in one program with just a click of
the mouse, SAP and other ERP programs, have revolutionized the way we do
business.

Introduction
As businesses predict their future outcomes, they must look
forward to the growth and development of their companies. To become larger,
these businesses must have the tools they need to succeed. If a company was a
supplier to many other companies with several products; the orders, amount of
products, and customer inquiries about the company are sure to increase. With
so many future transactions to be expected, a forecasted data base is needed to
track all of the incoming and outgoing information. SAP, an Enterprise Planning
System (ERP) allows companies to be efficient with orders and tracking products
in a simplistic manner.
Both the customer and producer benefit from the
convenience of sales order processing. By being able to track orders and also
provide better customer service by having easy access to all previous records,
the producer meets needs and expectations with more efficiency. The Sales
Ordering Process can also benefit consumers by ensuring accuracy and
availability. Instead of having to conduct hand written orders and then
computing them, they are able to enter it all in to the database. In doing
this, all of their information is already right in front of them, therefore
they are automatically able to see the total of their order along with the
shipping status. Availability to process these requests over the internet
allows consumers to place their orders on their own time. The SAP Sales
Ordering Process simplifies the exchange of goods and products and will
continue to improve as technology increases its abilities.

SAP Description
We were given a fictitious company, database and client
to begin our sales ordering process.
Once you have become familiar with the ERP software creating a sales
order is a fairly simple task. SAP
allows us to operate every function of our business under using one
system. Creating a sales inquiry for our
customer was the first step in this process.
Once our bid was accepted we were able to create a sales order from our
inquiry which will automatically enter the basic data for that company. We would then check stock and create delivery
for those products. Every ordered
processed is assigned a transaction number which allows our company and vendor
track the sales order. Below I have
included a copy of our completed sales order.
When comparing SAP with programs offered by Microsoft
Office the major differences would be accessibility and convenience of using
one program to operate daily business functions of a company. SAP was designed to make everyday business
functions of a company more convenient by making it possible to use one program
for the various business activities.
Microsoft Office is used by a large portion of businesses today for
various reasons, but it isn’t designed to be utilized for certain purposes as
SAP. You won’t be able to use one
particular program in Microsoft to creating a sales order, schedule delivery
and track its process. Microsoft
Office is classified as an end user application which is used mostly by
individuals and small businesses.
