Parents Let's Explore!
Examples of Miss Newell's past experiences teaching childern:
While in high school, I was part of my high school's National Honor Society (NHS.) In NHS, we helped by helping learn if a young child is ready to start school. This event wasa held all day. We observed and tested the children in different skills and evaluated each students on the different activities they did. Through this experience, I learned a lot of how ready a child is to attend school and learning more about myself as a teacher teaching the children the activities in the process.
In the past year, I have also volunteered teaching second graders the game of basketball on Saturday mornings. Through the whole experience, I have been able to teach them how I learned the game of basketball in the process. During each sessions, I would ask the children to repeat what I had said about the drill we were going to do, to check if the player could comprehen what drill we were going to do. I learned through having them repeat what I said they were able to remember the drill better, and this made reteaching the drills a lot faster. Through doing this, we could move along to new drills to harness their skills.
Through my pre-internship, I worked two days a week all day with fourth graders. Teaching to these students helped me gain more experience and re-evaluate myself as a teacher. Through my pre-internship, I was able to teach lessons from what the students inspired me to teach to them. I learned that I have to understand what my students want to learn about. Teaching off what my students want to learn about was more important then teaching from a book.
Now, I am teaching in Walnut Elementary, and I am learning everyday from my students, as I am teaching them lesson everyday. Learning and teaching makes a complete circle in my classroom everyday.

National Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
On the PTA website parents can explore many issues that are involved in the classroom. Parents can join the PTA, help the PTA, or roam and look for advice on issues to help their child.
Helping Your Child with Math
Teaching children math is a big issue. Not every student learns the material the same way, just like not every parent was taught math the same way their child is. Therefore, this website is great, because parents can learn about why their child should learn math. Math is always going to be around us, no matter if it is on the street or in our home. Math is around us and parents need to know why math is important.
Parents Guide to the Internet
Nowadays, children are more literate when it comes to the Internet. Parents are lagging behind. Many children can jump online and parents would not have any idea what their child is doing. Therefore, this website is designed to help parents learn more about how they can help their child navigate through the vast world of the Internet.
