Sales Order Module Description
SAP is a very
useful tool for companies utilizing sales processing. Companies can purchase and track their orders
online. This is very beneficial as they
are able to allocate their orders appropriately. It results in less confusion between the
buyer and seller. The basic functions in
the Sales and Distribution functions of the SAP system are: pricing, availability check, credit
management, material determination, output determination, text processing, tax
determination, and account determination.
In pricing, the customer, the product,
the order quantity, and the date, determine the final price the customer
gets. These are easily tracked in
SAP. In Availability check, the receiver
and shipper can view when the order was placed, and when it is due to arrive to
the end party. In credit management, users
are enabled to minimize the credit risk by specifying a specific credit limit
for their customers. This is much more
convenient to users. In material
determination, SAP automatically enables customers during sales order entry to
substitute a material that has promotional packaging. In output determination, output functions are
offered for sales, transportation and billing yielding manageable sales
transactions with customers. In text
processing, texts can be used for sales notes for customers, explanations in
order confirmations, and shipping instructions in deliveries. Sap also aids in tax determination for users
which increases accuracy. Lastly, SAP
offers users the ability to set up a revenue account. This aids in the group’s finances. All of these features comprise the sales and
distribution functions of SAP. Utilizing
these features only increases an individual or group’s processing
functionality.
Sales Order Processing Exercise

Self Evaluation
It was
interesting looking at how a company would do electronic order processing. Coming into this class I had no prior
knowledge of SAP. I only recognized the
image from Ernie Els. It is clear to me
how many companies would utilize this program.
Orders placed are easy to follow throughout the entire sales and
distribution process. Using this system
would undoubtedly result in less confusion between the buyer and seller. In fact, verbal communication would hardly
have to be used. I would recommend
continuing this project for future classes.
This is due to the fact that it is a fairly new system that we will see
more and more of going forward.
