How it all began.
I was born in St. Joe Michigan on March 21, 1981, my full name is Michael James Tate. I was named Michael after my father, James after my grandpa. I live in Hartford MI for most of my life until I moved to Kalamazoo to come to Western. I have 2 younger brothers, Casey is 17 and he is a senior in Bridgeman and John is 8 and he is in 3rd grade at Lakeshore schools.
Things I like to do!
Well when I'm not working or going to school I like to hang with my friends as much as I can . I know that sounds like what everyong else would say but I really do. All of us get along very well, like my roommates and I we have been living together for 3 years now and its been nothing but fun. I also like to travel as much as possible, most of the time its in Michigan visting friends but now that my friends are getting real jobs and moving all over the country I have lots of places to vistit. Other things I do are play and coach basketball back in my home-town. Every Monday and Wed. I come up the rec center and play basketball and work out.
What I want to be when I grow up.
When I get done with this school thing I want be the best teacher that I can be. I would like to move to a warm state, but pretty much I will take any job that I can get for right now. I would like to teach and coach for a few years in the high school setting and then go back to school to get my masters so I can try to teach in college. I want to teach in college because I want to coach in college. Coaching in college in one of my main goals in my life and right now its really hard to try to do the college thing and then drive back home for basketball parctice at night but if I want to be a great coach I have to practice as much as I can and pay my dues as people would say.
Where I want to be in 10 years.
Its so hard to say what I want 10 years or even 20 years from now but I will take a stab at it. I would like to be in a warm state because I hate the cold Michigan winters but If Tom Izzo comes calling at my door and asks me if I would like to take over the Michigan St. job I think would put up with these Michigan winters. I would also like to be married with some little tater tots running around. I also would like to be in charge of my own college basketball team and hopefully a good one at that where I can keep my job for a while. For the most part I just want to live a simple live with a very stressful but also rewarding coaching job.
