COURSE OBJECTIVES & LEARNING OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT

 

 

 

EXPECTED OUTCOMES:

 

Goal:               To develop an appreciation for ecological interactions among organisms in a biologically diverse tropical environment.

 

Objective:       To achieve this goal through hands-on field research in both marine and terrestrial habitats, discussion, readings and the analysis and communication of research results.

 

Learning

Outcomes:        To develop skills in the following 8 learning outcomes:

 

1)      Appreciate biological diversity in both marine and terrestrial habitats.

2)     Understand ecological interactions among species in both marine and terrestrial habitats.

3)     Make accurate observations.

4)     Develop testable hypotheses.

5)     Design simple experiments to test hypotheses in the field.

6)     Implement research methods in the field.

7)     Think analytically.

8)     Communicate and interpret observations and research results through scientific presentation and discussion.
