Applying engineering tools to problems in management and healthcare systems requires the use of engineering management and organizational disciplines. Drawing from engineering and cultural anthropology, I design tools to investigate how well an organizational culture supports specific goals and objectives. I also use cultural ethnography as the basis for empathic design training, which puts the R&D team in the customer’s work setting to identify new products and innovations on existing products.

Examples of recent projects:

· Built a web-based cost-benefit tool for the design of community healthcare clinics in California

· Designed and delivered Empathic Design training to a Fortune 500 medical device manufacturer

· Analyzed the specific organizational cultures of entities in a regional healthcare network including owned and managed hospitals, home health, and flight operations
