Cotingency Diagraming Checklist Project
The Pink Sheet Conceptual Workshow is a computer-based instructional segment founded on the principles of programmed instruction. " The workshow is used to teach students in Psy 360 and Psy 100 Honors 10 rules for properly diagramming behavioral contingencies. " The show was designed by Jason Otto, a BATS doctoral student. " This year, Moira McGlynn (a BATS MA student) and Mitch Fryling, (an undergraduate research assistant) assisted Jason in evaluating and revising the program.

What we did:
- One-on-one formative evaluations: Students from an undergraduate child psychology course were recruited to evaluate the program. They reviewed the workshow while discussing it with one of the programs researchers. This helped to help pinpoint areas of confusion and to obtain suggestions for improvement.
- Protocol analyses: As another method of evaluation, voluntary subjects reviewed the workshow and completed pre and posttests in a talk-aloud condition. Experimenters were not present in these sessions. Instead, subjects' comments were tape-recorded and analyzed outside of the sessions.
- Revisions to the workshow: Several changes were made to the program. As a basis for changes, we analyzed homework completed by Psy 360 and Psy 100 Honors students. Common contingency-diagramming errors found in students' homework were addressed in the program. Changes were also implemented based on students' comments in formative evaluations.
- Pre and Posttest Revisions: A new test was created for use as a pre/posttest. Students' errors on both tests were analyzed after the completion of the workshow. These errors signaled needed improvements to the program and to the tests themselves.
