Psychology 460:
Survey of Applied Behavior Analysis Research
Disconnects
- The system manual was very disjointed and no longer served the objectives of the PSY 460 system. The roles and responsibilities were not clearly defined nor were the contingencies for those behaviors.
- Teaching assistants are not taught how to grade. In an effort of consistency across course sections, this is a pretty big problem.
- The meeting structure was not conducive to optimal learning and material discussion for the teaching assistants.
Current accomplishments
-
Several accomplishments have occurred during the current semester. The following accomplishments were the result of disconnects found within the system. Examples of our accomplishments include:
Development of a comprehensive system manual that describes the job responsibilities of all system participants.
- Revision and addition of course materials to further refine the intended skills students will acquire.
- Reorganization of the meeting structure to provide a stricter training component for new teaching assistants.
- Pre-development of a system for obtaining external feedback for PSY 460.
- Pre-development of a structured system for training feedback skills with the teaching assistants.
