Dr. McCarty, Professor of Law, received a B.A.from DePauw University, a J.D. from the University of Michigan’s Law School and a Diploma from the University of Amsterdam’s Europa Institute. He teaches Business Policy/Ethics, Estate Planning, International Business Law and the Legal Environment of Business. Dr. McCarty is an Advisor for majors and minors in General Business and Public Administration/Business as well as for students who minor in law or international business. He has led student study abroad groups in 2003 and 2004 to Maastricht, Netherlands and to Japan.Dr.

McCarty has held three administrative positions including Interim Dean while at WMU. He has also been a co-director of three U.S. Department of Education grants. A member of the State Bar of Michigan and an inactive member of the Illinois Bar, he has practiced law in both Illinois (Chicago) and Michigan (Kalamazoo and Lansing).

During the fall of 2004 Dr. McCarty will be on Sabbatical as a Fulbright lecture/researcher award to Aoyama Gakuin University’s Graduate School of International Management in Tokyo where he will teach International Business Law and teach and conduct research on Corporate Governance.
