Dr. Miller´s
research interests are in the area of the physical chemistry of surfaces, specifically
the engineering of surface properties through chemical modification and the elucidation
and utilization of surface photochemical processes. The goal of his research program
is to develop novel methods for controlling surface interactions. The strategy
to reach this goal is to combine the analytical tools of surface science with
the concepts, experimental, and computational techniques of physical organic and
inorganic chemistry. In this way, his research group will clearly elucidate surface
reaction mechanisms and thereby better understand and apply fundamental chemical
processes occurring at surfaces.
