What is happening in the world of education? There is only one solution, the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) 2008 . All of the NECC presentation are available as streaming media. This allows you to virtually participate in the conference or if you were there, to review the presentations at your leisure.

NBC provides a collaborative learning environment with current and historical videos and games for use in the classroom. The service is named iCue. Podcasting has been popular among educatiors, businesses, and organizations for a number of years. If you think you are technically disadvantaged don't despair. GCast makes podcasting as easy as placing a phone call. GCast converts your phone call into a podcast. This is a great service for those educators who are alway on the go, but would like to implement podcasting in their classroom.

Virtual office hours, parent meetings, and helping students with their assignments are all easy to accomplish with this selection conferencing services/software. The best part is these service are offered free with some limitations:

Dimdim is available in a hosted model with a free room limited to 20 participants. It is also available as open source to run on your own servers.

Vyew offers a free version with a limit on the number of presentations, and 20 participants.

Adobe Acrobat.com offers the ability to collaborate on and share documents as well as using the Adobe Connect product for conferencing. Adobe Connect is one of the easier more intuitive products.

Elluminate offers the VRoom which is limited to 3 particpants for free. Additional configurations are available for a fee. This is another product which is easier to learn.
