Kid Domain Research Paper

I found this first website about Safe Surfing Guide very educational and informing. Especially for teachers and parents that don’t have a background in using technologies like the internet. After reading the Introduction, I choose to research the Surfing section (2nd page) of the guide. This page would be a great resource for a teacher to us when a student gets to there first experience using an internet to surf for information. The internet can be a great resource and tool, but if children are not aware of some of the dangers then they won’t know what is right and wrong, or what to stay away from. Covering all this information in a lesson plan would be pretty simple. But it would be up to the teacher to some how make it interesting, because it’s not very exciting stuff for children. It would also be great to include the parents in this lesson, possibly as homework. I would have a handout for every student with the information that we covered, and they would have to take that home to have there parents sign it before they could use the internet.

On the Computer Tool Box I found an interesting resource called Animated Beginning Typing. This resource can be used with anyone age 4 and up that is learning to type. As teachers, there will be a time when we get to take our students down to the computer lab to learn how to type. This download would be a great resource to use at that time. There is an animated tutorial, as well as a screen to show proper fingering, and an on-screen keyboard which highlights the correct key when needed. The program even includes fun games for students to assess their learning.

On the last website with Computer Connections: Inside and Out Lessons, I choose lesson 1: Outer Hardware as a good resource. This is all very basic introductory information. For a young student that has never used a computer before, this will come in handy. This lesson teaches the students the different parts of the computer; the input and output devices as well as the basics. The great part about this lesson is that it includes a worksheet and hands-on activity for the teacher to utilize. When students get older and start getting job, employers will expect that they know a computer and the different parts.
