Nick Nacci’s Midterm Exam

IP vs. Domain Name

The difference between an IP address and a domain name is that a domain name is the name of website while the IP address is the numbers that identify your computer. My IP address for my WMU webpage that I am creating is a number combination that looks something like this ex:99.078.432. It would be very hard for anyone who was searching my website to be able to find it trying to remember those numbers. That is where the domain name comes in. The domain name is a name for ex: like espn.com that identifies your website. So my WMU Domain name is homepage.wmich.edu/~ndf3361. The difference between the IP address and domain name is the IP address is the set of numbers that identifies your IP address and the domain name is the name of your website so people can find it on the internet.
