Welcome
Welcome to my site, I hope you find it helpful in your journey to learning how to make beaded jewelry for the first time, or maybe to even learn a new skill. If you just want to look at my stuff and get ideas, please feel free to look at my gallery. If you would like to see what bead stores are in Michigan or some online resources, look in Suppliers. Need some help figuring out what certain beads are called, or need to know what the heck a chainnose plier is, head to the Materials Index.
Just remember: Have fun! Once you think you have the hang of something, try playing around with different ideas. That's how I figured out how to make most of my jewelry.
One last thing I want to say is that it is quite beneficial to look through beading magazines, such as:
- Bead Style
- Bead Unique
- Bead Work
- Stringing
- Bead and Button
Even the special issue magazines that feature jewelry for the holidays, or even a basic beading hand book. Beading magazines are a great way to get started on learning a new technique. All of the projects listed in them have step by step explanations with some photos on how to make that exact piece as well as a list of supplies you will need. I often look through the magazines for inspiration for my own jewelry, and sometimes I look at a project or a piece of jewelry and find an interesting aspect or technique I never thought to use before. Another great thing about bead magazines is that every issue (at least of all the magazines that I have) includes basic terminology and techniques, a list of bead websites, and a list of bead stores in the back of the magazine.
