BRIDGE CARD
The Bridge Card allows people to get money from the government every month in order to buy food. According to www.michigan.gov, 4400 retailers and over 4000 ATMs are available for Bridge Card use in the state. To apply for a Bridge Card, you must go online and print out the application. You could fill it out online. You could also fill it out by hand then mail it. A case worker will then contacting you to set up an interview.
The interview can be done either over the phone or in person. After the interview is completed, the case worker will then decide if you are eligible for a Bridge card. If you are approved, you will get a certain amount of money each month to buy food.
The Bridge card cannot be used for alcohol, pet food, paper products, soap, hot foods ready to eat, lunch counter items or food that is supposed to be consumed in the store, or tobacco. If the allocated amount of money is not used on the Bridge card, that amount carries over unto the next month. |
