THINGS THAT CONSERVE ENERGY
There are many things that people can do to cut down on their energy bill.  This section will give some ideas on how to do that.  Some of the things listed in this section may be common sense to some, but for others it will be the first time they have heard of these things.

            Shorter, more efficient showers
Short showers for men are not a problem.  Most men do not have to deal with the hair that women have to deal with.  Generally speaking, women take longer showers than men.  But alas, there are some things that women can do to cut their shower time/water usage down.  1) When your lathering your hair with shampoo, turn the water off.  2) When you are ready to rinse off, turn the water back on.  3) Only put shampoo on the top of your head and work it in.  4) Put conditioner on the bottom half of your hair and work it in.  I believe that this step cuts down time of the actual shower.  5) Shave your legs while your waiting for the shampoo and conditioner to do their job.

Using sunlight
I like to open the blinds and use the sunlight to light my apartment up.  When it becomes darker in the apartment, I light candles for my lighting.  When it becomes absolutely necessary to turn on the lights in the apartment, that’s when I do it.

Turning things off when you are not in the room.
It does not really make sense to leave a television on in a bedroom when you are out in the living room.  Although you may have plans to watch television in your room again, if you are not presently watching it, my suggestion would be to turn it off.
Other things that could be turned off while not in use are: toasters, coffee maker, griddle, electric can opener, and microwave.

Unplugging things that are not being used.
Just because something is turned off does not mean that it is not getting some sort of power.  Unplugging things that are not used on a regular basis is a good way to cut down the costs of energy bills.
