SERVICES
Beauty Schools
Many beauty schools offer deals on hair services.  Beauty schools offers these deals because the employees are actually students and still learning the trade.  While salons offer haircuts for $12-$15 dollars, beauty schools offer $5 haircuts.  The only setback to going to a beauty college for hair services is that the people work at a slow pace because they do not yet possess the confidence in their line of work.

Help Desk
Upon starting this endeavor, I learned that a campus help desk is very useful.  Even if you do not know why your computer is not working up to par, the people that work at the help desk can figure it out. As a bonus, their work was free to me because I am a student.  Most college campuses offer the same kind of services. The only thing that I recommend is that you may want to call ahead to see if you can ahve your computer looked at right away. Otherwise, you will be sitting there and wasting your own time.
In severe cases, you may have to visit the OIT help desk more than once.  Which, in that case, time is money.  When you go there the first time, you hope that whoever is working on your computer is doing the right things to get rid of the problem.  Just be patient with the person that works on your computer.  Keep in mind that the OIT’s services are free.  If you were to go to Best Buy, you would probably be spending hundreds of dollars to fix your computer’s problem.

Free Printing
In campus computer labs, every student gets a set amount each semester that are free to print.  While most things that are printed will be black and white, this offer is very convenient for students without printers.  Students also have access to the computers in the labs.  This comes in handy if a student does not have enough money to buy their own computer, or their computer is in the repair shop.

Textbooks
Textbooks are very expensive.  I often have wondered if the university bookstore has been scamming me, as well as other people that buy textbooks.  It was brought to my attention that www.half.com is a good place to look for the textbooks that you need for the upcoming semester.  This website offers deals that are up to 80% of the suggested retail price.  To find out what books that you need, you will have to look them up online, or contact the instructor for the course.  Either way, allow plenty of time for your books to be shipped.  Be aware that because www.half.com is a National site, and many orders are being processed at the same time.

School supplies
The key to buying school supplies is either buy them way before the average school starts (September), or buy the things you need after the school year starts.  That’s when you are going to find the best deals.  Wal-Mart, and Office Max seem to have the best deals when it comes to school supplies.  Campus bookstores tend to hike up the prices of school supplies because they know that some people that do not know any better, or they are lazy and do not want to look at other stores’ prices.

Burger King    Most college town Burger Kings offer a percentage off discount to students that show a valid school ID.  Burger King offers its customers an opportunity to get a free Whopper with a purchase of a fry or a drink.

Metro Transit The public bus system is free to Western students.  The bus system is a great alternative for those students who do not want to pay $365 for a year long campus parking pass.  While you cannot choose when the bus comes and goes, the bus gets you to where you need to go, and that is what should matter most, right?  The bus has all types of people that ride on it.  If you ride the bus, you are bound to see something interesting, or something that you’ve never seen before.  The bus is endless fun for people.  The Metro Transit does not run on Sundays, though
