History of previous education:
I attended Kalamazoo Central High School, and graduated spring 2003. I am currently attending Western Michigan University, pursuing Special Education with minors in Early Childhood education and Language Arts.

Previous work experience:
I was a teacher cadet at MLK in the art room for Kindergarteners as well as Fourth graders. I have been employed at Croyden Avenue School since January 2004, working as a teacher's aide. I work with all ages, and a range of abilities. I also am pre-interning at a preschool; The Discovery Center.

Unique Skills and Talents:
I love working with younger children, especially children with Autism.

Hobbies & volunteer activities:
I love to draw in my (very little) freetime. I have volunteered at the Kalamazoo Museum downtown, doing activities with children. I have also volunteered at homes for the elderly, raking leaves and playing card games.

Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that all students are individuals, and therefore I provide multiple ways of learning in my classroom. I believe that all children should be treated fairly, and should never be set up for failure. Students should feel safe in my classroom, which will be accomplished in part by community building as well as gaining students' respect and trust.

Career and job goals:
My goal is to become a Special Education teacher after I graduate from Western Michigan University. I would love to teach preschoolers with Autism, and use my knowledge to help further their qualilty of life through education and practical living skills. I aim to become the best teacher I can be for all my students and their needs.
