My teaching philosophy:

Teaching is an enormous responsibility, and only someone who is 100 percent committed to the profession should pursue this goal in life. A teacher must provide a safe atmosphere for her students, must be a warm and welcoming authority figure, must be flexible and attempt to accommodate different learning styles, and must inspire intrinsic motivation in her students.

Students need to be engaged learners in order to remember and put new information into practice, so I place a vast emphasis on arts integration. My students learn curriculum of each subject area better through movement, drama, music, and visual arts, plus they enjoy themselves!

Diversity must also be accepted and appreciated within my classroom. Elementary students are forming views of the world depending upon their experiences in school and interactions with others. Whether it is cultural, ethnic, personality, or monetary diversity, my students will learn to respect each other for their differences while finding a common bond in order to relate well to those who are different.

Career Goals:

My goal for many years has been to become the kind of elementary teacher who I once looked up to in school. I desire for children to be open and honest with me, confiding in me with any concerns or questions they may have. I also plan to be an active member of the community, attending local sporting events, drama presentations, and township meetings. As a teacher, I strive to be professional, considerate, and welcoming to all I interact with daily.

I plan to continue my education toward a Masters degree in education, and I will always do what I can to improve my skills and methods. In order to do this, I will attend professional teaching seminars and workshops whenever I get the chance.

For the rest of my teaching career, I hope to be an asset to my school, my students, and my community.
