Why I Want to Become a Teacher

To me, there is no more rewarding career than teaching. With teaching you get the chance to make a large impact on the future generations. Teachers are role models for many children and that is something that I enjoy doing. I enjoy when a child comes up to me and says that I made a positive impact on their life. Teaching is the right career for me because I really enjoy working with children and being able to help them with their learning. As a teacher, I want the children to not only learn about facts in my class but also learn about how to be a better person. I will encourage the children to show respect to others and to be polite. These are things that they will use for the rest of their lives. I will also treat all of my students with respect and not make them feel uncomfortable at any time. I want my students to feel safe both physically and emotional in my classroom. With this classroom climate, the children will be able to get the most out of their education. My personal philosophy of teaching is that the teacher is only there to guide the children along with their learning. The children are the ones that should come to conclusions and think as independent learners. The teacher should not just tell the children everything, but rather allow the children to find out for themselves. When children find out information by themselves, they are more actively involved with their education.
