Designing Effective Library Assignments

In this session, workshop participants were asked to help evaluate a 
library assignment given to first semester freshmen writing students. 

Participants were asked to try to answer the questions the students 
were given and to determine what skill or what information was necessary to 
complete the assignment successfully.  Good communication between the 
librarian and the teaching faculty is critical to the development of 
effective library assignments.  Teachers and librarians share the 
goal of giving students a positive library experience that fosters 
information literacy and life-long learning.

Assignment # 1
 
The following questions should be answered by searching Lovejoy Library. 
You
should include your source as a part of each answer.


1.  Identify at least four (4) Nazi Concentration Camps.


2.  Name two (2) actors who appeared in the film, the Glen Miller Story .
