Well, many of us have had unwanted house guests in the form of
friends or family, and wished they would leave. Well this site
is about overnight guests that refuse to leave under their own
power, the Bed Bug. Many of us as children heard the old adage
"Don't Let The Bed Bugs Bite". After a couple
of sleepless nights, my cousins and I realized of course it was
probably a joke, to scare us children. We likened it to Snipe
hunting. Well, guess what, bed bugs are no joke. They
have been around for many thousands of years and plagued our
ancestors and their ancestors as well.
Today the United States has bed bugs in an epidemic proportion.
Although it may be difficult to pin point an exact starting date,
the U.S. has been inundated with these pesky little critters, in
ever increasing numbers, since at least 1995. They infest
homes as well as the some of the hotels and motels you may stay at
on your vacation, allowing them to possibly tag along with you back
home. Unfortunately, what with all the information about bed
bugs in print and on the WWW, many people still don't understand how
to recognize these little critters, and even less of them know how
to rid themselves of them safely. It is possible you can have
bed bugs and not even know it right away.
Bed bugs may infest your house, an apartment building for example or
may be so bold as to infest entire neighborhoods. Even Hotels,
Motels and office buildings are not safe from these parasites.
For those of you who may have children attending college or
university, dorms are prone to infestation as well, allowing for the
bed bugs to come home with them on semester break.
In this site we will give an overview of treatment alternatives,
health risks, a brief history of the bed bug, a bit of technical
jargon a few extras, including useful links to steer you towards a
better understanding of the Bed Bug and the problems they pose. We
hope you can benefit from out site.
