Welcome to my homepage! I successfully defended my dissertation on November 8, 2011. My Ph.D. degree will be conferred on the April 28th, 2012 graduation ceremony.My scholarly interests focus mainly in International Economics, Monetary Economics and Applied Econometric. My doctoral dissertation, conducted under the direction of Professor Susan Pozo, is entitled "Three Essays on International Banking." I am also conducting research in the area of Immigration, Remittances, and International Trade. I am currently an instructor for the undergraduate course: Principles of Microeconomics.

  • Full teaching responsibility for a Principles of Macroeconomics class and a Principle of Microeconomics class, September 2010 - Present.
    Assisted undergraduate courses with the main responsibilities being tutoring and grading: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Money and Banking, Latin American Economies, International Economics and Intro Econometrics. September 2007 – June 2010.

Summer Intern

  • United Nations, New York, NY, June 2010 - August 2010.

Participated in project "Inspira", which was designed to evaluate the efficiency of the new UN employment system. I was responsible for condensing large volumes of data into clear, concise, easy to understand observations. I also applied statistical models, such as survival analysis model to evaluate and monitor data.

Research Intern

  • W. E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, Kalamazoo, MI, September 2009 - June 2010.

Worked with senior economists on a few projects, one on privatization in Central and Eastern Europe, one on FDI in Lithuania, and another one on the effects of large employers on the U.S. local labor market. I collected data from different resources and organized raw survey data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. I also did econometric programming on the data, writing summarizing reports, and reviewing literature.

Project Manager

  • Professional Translating Services, Inc., Miami, FL, March 2007 - August 2007. 

As part of the management team, I was responsible for meeting with international clients, understanding their business, developing innovative business solutions, setting up new projects, and monitoring work processes. During my post, I managed the setting up of the Delta China website and the Clinique Hong Kong website.

Research Assistant

St. Thomas University, Miami, FL, February 2006 - March 2007.

Contributed to the book The GreenwoodEncyclopaedia of Asian American Literature
edited by Guiyou Huang mainly with data collection and analysis: collected and translated related literature, wrote academic reports; conducted surveys, and analysed the survey results with statistical method.
