Competitive Analysis
In order to develop a system that is at least comparable to other systems that are out there I must do a competitive analysis. I used Google to find different systems and I looked at the information that was provided on their web site in order to determine the features their systems contained. I will be unable to evaluate the layouts and the ease of use of the competing systems due to the fact that most of them cost a considerable amount of money.
The first system that I looked at is called ReServe Interactive. They have a considerable amount of features and have a slightly different scope than the system that I plan on developing. Their system is focuses more on the reservation side of the business. They incorporate most of the features that I plan on incorporating but they also focus on the catering business. Where my system excels is in the system requirements. They require a minimum OS of Microsoft Windows 2000 to run their software. My system will utilize interpreted languages so it is platform independent. My system will also have more business intelligence features as well as a web site generator. Their systems will interface with the POS system but my system will include POS.
reserveinteractive.comThe second system that I looked at was called squirrel systems. It is very similar to the system that I plan on making. It incorporates every thing that I will have in my system. The main difference is that my system is entirely web based and only a portion of their system is. As far as I can tell their system doesn't include any prep help squirrelsystems.com
