THE STEINHARDT SCHOOL OF EDUCATIONDEPARTMENT OF TEACHING & LEARNING ELEMENTARY SCIENCE EDUCATIONASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR (Tenured/Tenure-Track)The Department, committed to education reform, urban schools, and global education, seeks applicants in Elementary Science Education (grades 1--6), who understand how children conceptualize and learn science, and who are experienced in working with prospective elementary school teachers towards that goal.


Responsibilities: Teach elementary science education courses; advise undergraduate and graduate students; supervise student teachers; work with doctoral students; develop curriculum; and obtain external funding for, and carry out research projects, both alone and in collaboration with other NYU faculty. The person in this position will participate in all regular Departmental activities.


Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate, teaching experience in elementary urban environments and a strong record of research and publication in elementary science education/teacher education. The successful candidate will have knowledge of theory and research in teaching, learning and curriculum with a focus on science in grades 1-6 as well as experience in field-based teacher education, family and community outreach in urban environments.
