Tenure Track Position for 2007-2008
The UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA ST. PETERSBURG, which is the first
regional campus in Florida to achieve separate SACS accreditation, invites
applications for the following full-time, tenure-track position with
service to begin August 7, 2007. While achieving our own unique identity,
we remain a complementary part of a multi-institutional University of
South Florida network of institutions, ranked among the premier research
universities in the country. The College of Education at USF St.
Petersburg, which is nationally accredited by the National Association of
Colleges of Teacher Education (NCATE) offers innovative graduate and
undergraduate degrees leading to initial certification and post-graduate
certification, as well as post-graduate degrees designed to prepare
education professionals. The College mission frames its research-based,
interdisciplinary programs and emphasizes community engagement, ethical
leadership, and social responsibility. All programs integrate literacy,
English for speakers of other languages, and strategies designed to meet
the needs of diverse learners in response to community-based educational
priorities.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN SCIENCE EDUCATION (#3447)
Minimum qualifications: Doctorate in science education or related
discipline from a regionally accredited institution; and a record of
scholarship consistent with the expectations for scholarship in a research
university or demonstrated potential in this area; and elementary and/or
secondary science education and teacher education expertise. Preferred
qualifications: teaching, and grant writing experience and program
development. Preference will be given to those whose work has an applied
teacher education focus. We are particularly interested in applicants
with experience working in schools with diverse populations. Applicants
will be expected to establish an independent program of research that can
garner extramural support, mentor student research and teach graduate and
undergraduate classes.
