Born in Northport, Michigan, I spent the first seven years of
my life in Northern Michigan,Miami Florida, and Lansing Michigan. Then my
mother remarried and we moved back to
Northport. In 2000 I graduated as co-Valedictorian of my small (18
people) class and went on to
Western
Michigan University.
Ever since I learned to read, I wanted to be a teacher. As I
got older, my desire to be a teacher only became stronger, but the age I wanted
to teach changed. I loved my French and English classes in high school and
planned to continue those areas in college. But at the same time, I was used to
a small school setting, where my high school English teacher was my elementary
art teacher. During orientation at Western, my dream to go to school for K-12
education was shattered. I had to pick elementary or secondary education, so
here I am in the Secondary Education program. I have a double major in English
and French.
My sophomore year I spent 4 months studying in
Aix-En-Provence, France. While I was there, I spent a couple of weeks
traveling France. I loved every minute of my time in France, including my
classes. I still email friends I made there.
On July 3, 2003, I became engaged! Matt and I are planning a
wedding for June 19, 2004. I'm very excited, and having fun planning the
wedding of my dreams, which will be in Northport.
As soon as I graduate (in December 2004, I hope), Matt and I
hope to move to France, where I will teach English to French students (my dream
job). After spending a year or so there, we have plans to move back to the
states (either Boston or Seattle) where he can get his dream job.
Sooner or later, we'd like to move back to Michigan (closer to
our parents) and start a family of our own. I'd love to live in a small town
near the water (NORTHPORT!) but of course it would depend on where Matt and I
can find jobs.
