Personal Reflection

I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I  was a mentor at my local elementary school in tenth grade. Being around children makes me feel extremely happy and alive. So, when it came time to go away to college I was already sure that Elementary Education was going to be my major, and since I have always loved my art classes and was involved in dance choosing the Integrated Creative Arts minor was a no brainier for me. I also love working with Kindergartners and first grades, so naturally I added on my Early Childhood minor.

Personal Teaching Experiences:

I worked with children in the classroom during both my sophomore and senior years of high school. I helped teach many different subjects including math, reading, and science. Having a close relationship with the children was the best part of volunteering during high school. During Christmas break 2004 I volunteered more than 25 hours at the local elementary school helping to teach children. This fall I will get to go back into the classroom for one of my classes, and I can't wait!
