Fashion Trends in the 50's and 60's

 
 

The fashion trend in the 50's right after World War II was a classy and elegant look. The new look was meant to symbolize optimisim and copiousness. Women wore very elegant skirts and dresses, along with blouses. Women very often wore hats and their accessories matched in color and style. Hemlines were often changed to create a different look. Petticoats were also very popular. Fashion was simplicity in the 50's.

Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, and Bridgette Bardot were the main fashion idols for women in the 50's.

Rock n' Roll became a huge part of fashion in the 50's. Jeans and t-shirts were a must have for men. The main look for teenagers were the greasers and the preppies.

 
 

The 60's were all about a different generation. The biggest fashion trends were second hang clothes. Everything came in different colors and textures as well as lengths.

The Beatles also created a new fashion trend with their hairstyles. The beehive hairdo was also very in for women. Afros starting surfucing. While men's hair got longer, women's hemlines got shorter. Miniskirts and bold colors became very popular. Bell-bottoms also became very popular. Chunky jewelry was also a must have, along with velvet and satin for evening and formal occassions. Go-go boots made their first appearance in the 60's.

But women weren't the only one wearing boots, me were wearing platform boots as well.

Love beads and mood rings starting circling around in the late 60's. Love beads were known as a sign of friendship.

Tie-dye t-shirts were also very in.
